Donuts in Dallas
Sprinkled, dipped, glazed, double glazed and as light as air, there's a reason it's hard to say no to a good doughnut.
Donuts or doughnuts? Sprinkled or glazed? No matter how they're spelled or prepared, indulging in the sweet treat is always worth it. Here's our list of easy-to-find and tasty doughnut spots throughout Dallas.
Hypnotic Donuts
Stick with the classics or go on a sugar-fueled journey at Hypnotic Donuts. It's known for having some unique doughnuts on the menu – like the Peace' statio, a cake doughnut with brown butter glaze and pistachios. For something heartier, go with one of their specialty chicken biscuits like The Jim, a spicy chicken breast between toasted glazed doughnut halves with a side or sriracha sauce, for a just-right combination of sweet and spicy.
Top Pot Doughnuts
While not a Dallas native, Top Pot arrived to the area in 2014 after years of only serving our friends in The Evergreen State, and the Dallas area remains its only outpost outside of Washington. Peek through the glass cases to pick your poison – apple fritters, glazed pumpkin old fashioneds and feather boas are just a few of their standard options.
Milk · Cream
It's not your typical doughnut shop, but it makes our list for combining some favorites – doughnuts, ice cream and colorful toppings (among the toppings are crushed peanuts, cereals, and cookie crumbles) – into their signature Milk · Cream Bun. The three-step process runs you through choosing your favorites of those three before heating it up and sending you along to enjoy your unique creation.
Lone Star Donuts
The doughnut factory mostly caters to the wholesale world, but their shop retail space is worth a visit when you're in the Oak Cliff area – it's on the way to the Bishop Arts District when coming out of Downtown Dallas and Trinity Groves. The family-owned shop has been in operation since the 1950s, cranking out maple bacon doughnuts, cinnamon rolls, breakfast burritos and other early-morning staples for the neighborhood and anyone that visits. Plus they stay open until 6 p.m.!
Urban Donut
Doughnuts go DIY at this Uptown favorite. Hit up the counter to pick from dozens of options of icings, fillings and toppings – and even ice cream if you're really going for it. If you prefer a prix fixe menu, check the counter for house-made creations with familiar-sounding names paying homage to local landmarks. This spot caters to a late-night craving too – they're open until 9 p.m. Monday-Saturday.
Salty Donut
The brand's first outpost in Texas just opened up in the Bishop Arts District, with a front-row spot along Davis Street. Seasonal doughnut flavors will likely catch your eye, along with a spacious and serene patio to enjoy your treats. The shop closes when they run out – so make your doughnut run early.
