Dallas has numerous organizations eagerly looking for volunteers for groups of all sizes all year long. Here are five places to consider when planning your volunteer outing.
Ronald McDonald House Dallas
The Ronald McDonald House offers housing to families with sick or injured children. Volunteers play a significant role in serving these families through their Meals That Heal program, which provides three meals every day of the year. Groups interested in volunteering are responsible for planning the meal, buying the ingredients and cooking the meal at the House. You can find more information here.
North Texas Food Bank
The North Texas Food Bank provides access to more than 200,000 meals for hungry children, seniors and families every day. There are several ways to volunteer, including the Community Pantry, where you can assist in personal shopping for families or help stock the pantry. The Mobile Pantry, Nutrition Services programs and various special events are also available throughout the year – perfect for groups of all sizes.
Dallas Habitat for Humanity
Habitat for Humanity's mission is to bring people together to build homes, communities and hope and to provide a world where everyone has a decent place to live. There are multiple ways to volunteer, including construction projects, group and sponsorship opportunities, and assisting in the ReStore retail store.
Dallas Life
For more than 25 years, Dallas Life has provided shelter, hot meals and spiritual care to those in need. It's now the largest homeless shelter in North Texas and has various volunteer needs. Serving lunch and dinner and participating in donation drives are great ways for groups to participate.
Resource Center
Resource Center serves as the primary LGBTQIA+ and HIV/AIDS service organization in North Texas and is one of the largest LGBTQ community centers in the U.S. The center offers various programs and services, including support groups, youth programs, and nutrition services. The volunteer program collaborates with groups and businesses to organize a project for your group's needs.
