What to Do in March in Dallas
Celebrate spring with festivals, sports, outdoor activities and spring break fun.
March is known for many things - the start of Spring and Spring Breaks, March Madness, St. Patrick's Day, pleasant weather and so much more. If you're looking for a quick escape or a break away from your routine, Dallas has so much to offer. Here are a few of our favorite things you must do in Dallas this March!
St. Patrick's Day
Dallas lights up in green for more than the Dallas Stars! With a plethora of ways to celebrate, you'll be green with envy if you miss out on St. Patrick's Day weekend in Dallas. For a complete listing of St. Patrick's Day events, click here. Here are a few of our favorite ways to celebrate:
- The much beloved and historic Dallas Mavs St. Patrick's Day Parade & Festival is returning to Greenville Avenue on March 16.
- The North Texas Irish Festival (March 1-3 at Fair Park) is celebrating 40+ years of Irish music at this year's festivities.
- No St. Patrick's Day is complete without a stop by a pub! From Blackfriar Pub to The Dubliner, there are so many great options to choose from. Check out our pub guide here for more ideas of where to spend the evening.
March Madness
Basketball fans? Us too! Whether it's cheering on one of the many local university teams, the Dallas Mavs, Wings or whichever your favorite basketball team is, here are some of the great places to catch a game:
Owners Box
Head downtown to the Omni to enjoy a night of watching the games on one of their many TVs with delicious food and plenty of drinks. This elevated sports bar boasts over 70 HDTVs. As if that's not enough screens, you can also watch the 16-foot screen on the back wall!
Hero
At Hero, you'll be blown away by the drink menu (including large format drinks), the massive space, indoor and outdoor seating and arcade games – and you'll be even more impressed with the dining menu. Catch happy hour before a game on weekdays 3-6 p.m.
Happiest Hour
Happiest Hour offers great views and lots of space to sit with your friends and chat through the night. Their local drafts list and drink menu will get you in the spirit, and the "happytizer" menu has all your bar favorites like chicken wings, pulled pork sliders and loaded cheddar fries. Happiest Hour offers happy hour Monday – Friday 5-7 p.m.
Toller Patio
Bring your pup to enjoy the games and the beautiful weather to this laid-back colorful outdoor patio restaurant. Grab a seat at the picnic table, some waffle fries and a frozen drink and catch the game on one of the many TVs so you don't miss a moment of the action.
Get Outside
Sunny March days make for fantastic weather to stop and smell the roses - literally! With parks and gardens all throughout the city, here are a few of our favorite places to enjoy the spring blooms and the great outdoors:
Dallas Arboretum & Botanical Gardens
Just minutes from Downtown on the shore of White Rock Lake, you can enjoy the annual installation of Dallas Blooms Spring, the Southwest's largest outdoor floral festival. Visiting for the first time? Check out our first-timer's guide!
Cedar Ridge Nature Preserve
Did you know there are places to hike within Dallas? Exploring the Cedar Ridge Nature Preserve will raise your elevation and your heart rate! The preserve features over 640 acres of preserved wilderness, including native-plant nurseries and seven miles of hiking trails. Pack a snack or lunch to enjoy at one of their picnic areas after the hike.
Katy Trail
The Katy Trail is one of the most popular walking, running and biking paths that goes through some of Dallas' most popular neighborhoods. Running from near the American Airlines Center to North Dallas, the 3.5-mile path provides easy access to attractions, restaurants and other things to do in Uptown.
