What to Pack for Your Dallas Road Trip
All the essentials for your trip.
So, you've booked your hotel and your Dallas itinerary is planned, and all that is left is packing for your road trip. There are those essentials you know you'll need for any road trip, and then there are the ones you'll need for a Dallas road trip. Here are a few recommendations:
Dallas sports team jersey
Dallas is home to several professional sports teams, so you're bound to run into someone rocking a Cowboys, Mavericks or Stars jersey while you're here. You have two choices: support your favorite local team with a jersey or t-shirt or proudly wear your hometown's team jersey.
Portable phone charger
It's not likely you'd go anywhere without your phone, but it is likely you'll run your battery dry, so a portable charge is a must. The city is full of Instagrammable moments and landmarks you'll want to photograph while you are here. If you're looking for colorful murals, Bishop Arts District and Deep Ellum have plenty of bright backdrops to choose from.
Walking shoes
Dallas is a big place and while a car is helpful in getting into the city, once you're in one of its great neighborhoods, you'll be switching to exploration by foot. Have some sneakers handy for seeing everthing from Downtown's historic landmarks to Deep Ellum's murals and bars – each neighborhood has its own unique character tucked into its streets. Don't forget to pack some sunscreen as well! You'll be glad you have it after a day of exploring by foot.
A hat
A cowboy hat isn't required – after all, Dallas is quite different from what a certain popular TV show from the 80s portrayed. We're thinking more stylish and/or practical. There's also no denying the heat, so a hat is really your best defense against the Texas sun.
Backpack or tote bag
Bring an extra backpack or tote bag to pack souvenirs and gifts from your trip to Dallas, leaving plenty of room for the locally made snacks you can't get back home, from chips and salsa to macaroons and more. If you're looking for non-perishable items, Bullzerk is a great option for Dallas-related witty tees and other fun gifts or Wild Bill's Western Store if you're looking to add a pair of cowboy boots to your wardrobe.
