Freedman's Cemetery Memorial
This area honors former freed slaves that were buried in what was the "Freedman's" town in the 1850s. It was the social and economic center of the African-American community at the time. An arched granite gate now stands at the site entrance. Niches on either side contain symbolic sculptures by David Newton. Admission is free.
