University of North Texas at Dallas
The University of North Texas at Dallas Campus was established to meet the educational needs of the citizens of Southern Dallas County and the surrounding areas. In 2007, the UNT Dallas Campus occupied its first permanent building on 264 acres near the intersection of I-20 and I-35 at 7300 Houston School Road.The University of North Texas at Dallas Campus currently offers junior- and senior-level courses leading to undergraduate degrees in diverse fields such as business, computer science, criminal justice, elementary education, healthcare information management, human services, sociology, and more. The school also offers graduate degree programs in criminal justice, counseling, education, and other fields. Degrees are awarded under the authority of the flagship university of the UNT System, the University of North Texas in Denton.The Dallas campus is projected to receive free-standing, degree-granting status in Fall 2008, making the University of North Texas at Dallas the only public university within the city limits. Under Texas state law, the UNT at Dallas Campus will earn free-standing status when student full-time equivalent enrollment exceeds 1,000. Reaching that milestone will also release additional state funding for further development of the campus.
