Luckily for you, it's easier than ever to be a vegan in Dallas. The plant-based/vegan scene has grown so much, there's something new to chow down on in every neighborhood. From Black-owned establishments to long-time staples, here are a few stand-out spots.
El Palote
Authentic vegan Mexican cuisine – what more do you need? Enjoy your favorite street tacos, tamales, tortas, savory pastries and delicious weekend menudo! The soy-based "meats" are prepared in-house with a lot of love and care with 50 years of experience.
Kalachandjis
(closed until 1/15) Located inside a lovely Hare-Krishna temple, this Indian cuisine buffet features a rotating menu with notes on dishes containing dairy or gluten. Enjoy beans, bok choy, potatoes and cauliflower, all prepared fresh daily in their kitchen. Save room for the vegan ginger cookie at the end and visit their gift shop for a new set of mala beads.

Vegan queso on a rooftop with a beautiful view of Downtown Dallas is all you really need in life. Also make room for the zucchini "pasta" made with roasted veggies and a hemp-oat crumb. There are also several freshly made desserts that are a must try. Pro tip – get to the rooftop early; it's a popular spot to watch the sunset.
Da Munchies
Get your Southern food fix at this South Dallas spot, featuring vegan chicken and waffles, fried shrimp and fish baskets, mac n' cheese and more! Get your little ones on the vegan train too with their "mini munchers" menu.
Soul Good
Voted the 2018 Best Food Truck in Dallas, Soul Good is worth all the craze. Enjoy plant-based twists on classic American dishes like vegan pancakes and sausage biscuits for breakfast, and tacos and burgers for lunch. This cozy neighborhood juice bar and market has all your fresh to-go needs covered. They serve delicious juices and smoothies, as well as plant-based sandwiches, soups and salads.
Vegan Food House
A Vegan-fusion restaurant with Cajun and Southern influences is what you'll find at Vegan Food House. The food presentation looks as good as it tastes; go for the bacon creole patty melt, or black bean veggie tacos. And if you're a fry lover, their perfectly seasoned fries are a must!
